“Oingo Boingo reunion” is one of the phrases people type when they go looking for these songs live. It is worth answering directly: nothing of the kind has been announced, and the person whose decision it would be has said it is not going to happen.
Danny Elfman has been consistent about it for years, and his reason is not a feud. It is his hearing. In 2021 he said that there was not going to be an Oingo Boingo reunion and that orchestras are simply not that loud — he had reached a point where he did not want to be on a live rock stage again. Where he actually is in 2026 is a separate tour of his own, which this site neither lists nor sells.
The band ended on Halloween night in 1995, at the Universal Amphitheatre, after a farewell run. That show was filmed and released the following year. Before the end the name had already been shortened once, to Boingo, when the horn section was dropped. How it finished.
What tours now is Oingo Boingo Former Members, led by the original drummer, Johnny “Vatos” Hernandez. It began under a different name again — Oingo Boingo Dance Party — which Elfman gave Hernandez permission to use once he had decided he would not be coming back. Five original members are on the roster the band publishes.
